Did you know that cheese was most likely originally invented to preserve milk for lean winter times? Cheese is a food of the people and for the people. Over centuries people got creative and had fun using what was available to them, utilizing what was available regionally. From Turkey to France To Argentina, cheese has kept people alive and happy for eons. Don’t ever be intimidated by cheese. Come visit me and I’ll explain each cheese and how it was made by some mad person with a lust for life and tasty things! Good cheese needs to be made accessible to everyone. Cheese is kind of punk. Tomorrow is National Walkout Day. I will still be outside of @fireside.rwc books, not because I expect to make a ton of money, but for me because it’s a place of community. I feel sick from blatant facisim and it’s very healing for me to get outside and talk to nice people. It grounds me and gives me hope. If you feel the same come by to say hello and a friendly chat.

Sunday means I’m at downtown San Mateo’s farmers market from 9-2. I have mini cheese and charcuterie boards for sale today, perfect for drowning your sorrows post sports ball day.

It’s open tasting day at La Honda Winery! Cheese and wine from 12-4. You can get snacks and be home in time to watch the sportsball game! Win!

Marge is an immigrant. Her heritage is Italian but her birthplace is in India. She has family throughout the world, some times called tuk-tuks or rickshaws or auto rickshaws (Please tell me other names I should know!).
One of my favorite things about being out and about with Marge is the people we meet. I get to talk to nice people every day which always lifts my spirits. A lot of people tell me that they had these vehicles in the country from which they immigrated and I can tell that seeing Marge brings a sense of familiarity, comfort, and sometimes joy. It makes me really happy to have a small connection to different folk and I love hearing the stories that come with the memories. Diversity is fun as heck.

In the last month a couple of friends had told me that they had seen Marge on a billboard or on a tv show! Last night I was sent this screenshot of me and Margie doing our cheese thing on a dating show on @kron4tv!
It turns out there is a woman named Lisa who rented some billboard space to help find her a man. At some point in the show Lisa is strolling down Redwood City’s Broadway, past Marge and me in my Joy Division sweater. Cool!
At the same time this is a good time to bring up how important it is early on in a relationship to know where your partner stands on cheese. Cheese lover? Put a ring on it! Can’t stand the sight of cheese? Possible dealbreaker.
We wish Lisa the best and hope that she has lots of cheese at her wedding!

2025 was a doozy and it ended a blur. I was laid off from my day job in August and I decided not to mope about and instead get out and sell some cheese. It’s been great fun and quite the learning experience! Thanks to all of you I’ve been able to get by and keep going. I’ve got great plans and hopes for 2026 and I look forward to seeing everyone over a hunk of cheese.

Marge and I had a great weekend at the @rwckiwanisfarmersmarket and the Sunday San Mateo farmers market. We met so many people and we loved sharing cheese with all of you. We also popped by the new @madeoutofdough Local Market in Belmont. The shop is great and filled with incredible baked goods and great energy. ❤️ It’s warming to see local small businesses growing, thanks to kind people such as yourself.

New Year and New Things

2025 was indeed a strange year. I was laid off from my daytime job in August and I decided that since I already owned a business with actual permits and licenses, that I should just hit the road selling cheese. And I've been doing that for the past four months. It's been a sharp learning curve, albeit a fun and exciting one! It's lovely to wake up every day to work really hard for yourself. Stressful, too, yes! But thank you to everyone who has come out to support the mobile
